ProRep Edible Plants

ProRep Edible Plants

While salad vegetables are commonly available from the supermarket, it is now widely accepted that these are not ideal due to the types of plants and their nutritional and fibre content and that in fact wild plants are much better.

Each plant has been grown specifically for use as a feeder plant. They are grown organically, without the use of pesticides or fertilizers. We have chosen this initial range from the types that we found were most accepted by testing them on our own reptiles.

Although we tested them for use with reptiles they can also be used with mammals and birds

Our current range of edible plants includes:

  • Callisia repens
  • Dandelion
  • Plantain
  • Red Sorrel – Red Pixie
  • Self Heal – Prunella vulg

ProRep Beardie Feed Growing Kit

New Beardie Feed Growing Kit

A complete kit for growing edible plants for Bearded Dragons….

  • Edible plant seeds – enough for 4 sowings
  • Seed trays
  • Propagator top
  • Compost – Full instructions

The Bearded Dragon is a popular and rewarding pet and are relatively easy to care for, but they do have some exacting dietary needs at every stage of their life. As Bearded Dragons mature from Juveniles to adults their diet should include more plants.

Most shop-bought salad is low in roughage and can be nutritionally poor and collecting wild plants can be time-consuming and at certain times of the year, difficult. You can never be sure that they are free of insecticides, herbicides or other contaminants such as lead from exhaust fumes, or even that you have identified them correctly and have not collected something poisonous.

The wild plant mix contained in the ProRep feed growing kit has been selected for Bearded Dragons. The mix of annual and perennial plants can be grown for captive bred reptiles to help provide a year round source of nutritious plant leaves that gives Bearded Dragons a natural source of essential nutrients to aid healthy growth. They are also suitable for other herbivorous reptiles. The leaves are harvested to mix with other food and avoid the use of unsuitable shop bought greens. Harvested trays will re-grow for multiple use. This kit contains all of the equipment and seed that you will need to grow 4 trays of plants and can be re-used with the ProRep Beardie Seed Refill Pack available from retailers nationwide. The refill pack contains enough seed for 20 trays of plants but can be used to sow an outdoor enclosure. Want to see the kit? click to see the Beardie Growing kit

ProRep Bug Boosters

New Bug Boosters

While jelly pots are great for providing moisture, their food value is limited (except to certain beetles and fruit eating invertebrates). These new Calcium Jellies are the first in a new range of “Bug Boosters” which are designed to provide some real benefits to livefood prior to its use.

These Calcium Jellies are flavoured with grape to make them attractive to all feeder insects and fortified with calcium lactate. This easily absorbed form of calcium gut loads insects that eat the jelly, so boosting their calcium content prior to being eaten. The moisture in the jelly also helps extend the shelf life of insects. Want to see these Bug Boosters? click to see the Bug Boosters
